Paul Olson, 54, of Cheshire, was charged with second-degree larceny, false statement, criminal impersonation, identity theft and forgery, police said. The board of education contacted Vernon police in May to report possible embezzlement of school funds, officials said. After several months of investigating, a Vernon detective learned that Olson, while serving as director of food for the district, stole a cash deposit from the cafeterias totaling about $700. Vernon police said that Olson was responsible for processing all the money from the school cafeterias.Olson was fired by the school district in August, officials said.Olson was released after posting $10,000 bail and scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Rockville on Dec. 11, police said.
