Richmond County School System in Georgia is being awarded a 1.2 million dollar grant to improve education.
The school system says their main goal is to improve literacy rates in the county by partnering with Augusta University. Two-thirds of the students in the state of Georgia are reading below grade level. Richmond County schools hope to change that for their students, using the grant to do so. Sarah Cruz at the Board of Education explains, “We see this as furthering our strategic mission in providing students with education through just an innovative and collaborative approach.” Officials say the school system is working to ensure parents and students visibly see the 1.2 million-dollar grant utilized.
