Lincoln Park school business administrator in New Jersey charged with $14,900 theft.
Adrian J. Pollio, 46, of Westwood – NJ was charged Monday with one count of theft of movable property between July 2, 2014, and June 2, 2017. Authorities alleged Pollio, who deposited checks that were sent to the Board of Education directly into her personal bank account.
After Pollio’s departure, school officials were going through “internal checks and balances” in financial accounts, said schools Superintendent James Grube.
“Some things were not lining up,” Grube said. Lincoln Park police and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office were contacted.
“It’s all disconcerting and very upsetting when a public official abuses their position for their personal benefit,” said Rosemary Marks, the acting superintendent of Hackensack schools.
Pollio is not being held in jail, and her defense lawyer, Paul Nittoly, waived a first court appearance on Tuesday in Superior Court in Morristown. Pollio is due back in court on Oct. 1.
