A former treasurer of the White Oak Elementary School in Indiana must repay $142,000 to taxpayers

Jennifer Mazur was employed as an extracurricular treasurer of White Oak Elementary until the district terminated her on April 26, 2017.

The report released by the State Board of Accounts said Mazur, was responsible for financial discrepancies from 2011 to 2017 that total more than $89,000. The State of Indiana incurred $52,836.42 in special investigation costs from the audit, records show.

In the report, the Board of Accounts also said the Avon district’s “internal controls over cash receipts were insufficient.”

The report added that Mazur collected payments for the school corporation with “little oversight.”
