Former Booster Club President charged with embezzling $8,500 from Geneva County Schools in Alabama.

Ellen Lett faces a single charge of first-degree theft of property.  While the investigation continues into the incident, Hartford Police Chief Annie Ward estimated Lett allegedly stole about $8,500 from the club during the past three years. “There’s a lot of stuff to go through,” Ward said. Ward declined to comment on how the theft was discovered, noting her department was asked to investigate the incident. Lett was taken to the Geneva County Jail. It was unknown if she had posted bond as of Friday afternoon. If convicted of the Class B felony, Lett could face between two and 20 years in prison.
