Deborah Beckman has been indicted by a Sullivan County grand jury on 10 counts of forgery of $1,000 or less, and six counts of destruction of and tampering with governmental records.
Beckman stole $758 that had been donated to the cafeteria by a student’s family member to provide ice cream for the school’s kindergarten students.
Beckman falsified the cafeteria’s accounting records, prepared inaccurate deposit slips and signed the initials of other cafeteria workers on the deposit slips to steal the money.
Beckman also admitted that she stole an unknown amount of cafeteria funds from daily deposits and used the cash to pay for groceries and other personal expenses. Beckman was fired on Dec. 4, 2017. She was indicted by a grand jury on Aug. 22.
