Pamela Brady, 36, was the treasurer for the Schuyler Avenue parent-teacher organization. Brady had access to the account’s debit card as well as checks and used them to make numerous unauthorized transactions totaling $14,050. Kingston police began investigating Brady after the school principal reported money had been stolen from the PTO bank account.
During questioning, Brady admitted that during her time as treasurer she stole cash, used the debit card and forged checks by signing the name of the PTO president. Brady also admitted to preparing false treasurer reports so that other PTO officials would not know the actual account balance, police said.
Parents are stunned and many are downright angry, many of them were involved in fundraisers to help raise money for students here. “It’s upsetting and it’s very disheartening,” parent Kathy Saba said.
A preliminary hearing was set for the end of this June.
