Ex-high school cafeteria manager admits to stealing $120,000.
Brenda Watts was charged with theft after stealing lunch money from North Springs High School in Atlanta, GA. School has 4 carts with the electronic system and 1 cart selling only for cash, which is run by Watts.
A cafeteria worker, who was overseeing carts, was questioned why a food cart in the cafeteria didn’t have any electronic records. Cafeteria worker reported about Watt’s cash-only cart and then was wrongly accused and terminated.
Later, an investigation revealed that Brenda Watts was responsible for cash embezzlement. The judge ordered her to repay the money she stole, but she will receive no jail time.
The school district said it has toughened its procedures regarding inventory control and has increased training for all employees
